Complete kit to knit the Mountain Pass shawl, for what I call the snowy version. Available in a gorgeous merino yak silk blend yarn in seven colourways. I live in North Wales, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. From up high the mountain ranges stack, on after another, peak up on peak. The lace sections in this shawl are inspired by that sight of home.

This version is knit with a laceweight skein of the merino yak silk held with a skein of kidsilk mohair. This softens the colour off & gives this varied snowy effect, which reminds me of the days when we have sprinklings of snow on the mountains. It sits in the hollows & gives a really patchy effect. The sample is knit in the teal colourway.

This is an easy shawl to knit. There are large sections of stocking stitch which act as a foil for the mountain lace. The lace sections themselves are short repeats of easy stitches. This shawl is worked in a classic triangle shape, starting with a simple garter stitch tab & increasing at the centre & edges.

This is a complete kit, with two 100g hanks of yarn and a printed paper pattern. This comes in an organza bag to keep it all together.

The yarn is 60% merino, 20% yak and 20% silk. Soft, smooth, and with a wonderful depth of colour, this is a beautiful yarn to work with. This yarn loves the darker richer shades and this kit is available in a range of jewel tones which work beautifully. The method of dyeing used leaves a little variation within the yarn which adds to the depth of colour, with a little of the grey base showing in places. The blend of merino, yak & silk is also incredibly warm (trust me - those photos at the river were taken on one of the hottest days of the year!!).
