At The Woolly Tangle, it's all about fibre craft. We believe in the healing power of craft to destress and calm. Everything we do is built around that principle. We dye hand dyed yarns that take inspiration from the calming natural colours in the landscape around us. Project bags are designed to be easy to use, sturdy and generous in capacity. Stitch markers are designed to be as snag free and lightweight as possible. Patterns designed in house draw inspirations from the landscape around us, using simple stitches to build something beautiful.
Living in the beautiful surroundings of North Wales gives me plenty of inspiration for yarn colourways and pattern designs. This is a rugged area, with lots of contrasting textures and old industrial sites to discover. The dog and I spend many a happy hour exploring with the camera!
FOR SPECIAL REQUESTS & ORDERS
The Woolly Tangle is run by me, Tanya, and I often joke that the business name comes from what happens on a bad day!
A former professional gardener, I started knitting properly in 2010 while expecting my first child, having been taught as a teenager. When it became clear that I wasn't going to be returning to work, I started to look for other outlets for my creativity.
Running my own business gives me ultimate flexibility around school holidays, but it also helps me manage my health. I now suffer from a condition called fibromyalgia, which affects my energy levels and can leave me with lots of muscle pain, and alongside that I also suffer with my mental health. When I get bad, I can take to the sofa and knit for a bit until I feel ready to face the day again.
In part, this business is my way of giving that same experience to others. The healing power of crafting is well known, for helping you de-stress and reduce your anxiety.
